Another New Study Says Dark Chocolate Good For Heart

A German study soon to be released in the European Heart Journal says that people who eat approximately one square of a dark chocolate bar a day are at lower risk of heart attack and stroke.  This large study followed almost 20,000 people who had no prior history of heart disease over an 8-year period.  The researchers reported a 39% lower risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in the participants who ate 6 grams of dark chocolate per day.

Other studies have shown that dark chocolate is beneficial for the heart and blood pressure.  Many physicians will likely still hesitate to promote eating such an indulgent treat everyday though.  The risk is that someone will eat too much and gain unhealthy weight.  My personal advice is to consume treats in moderation.  If you can eat only ONE square of dark chocolate a day then go ahead and enjoy!
