If you are new to the heart-healthy diet, you might think that anything with green veggies is good for your new diet.  That’s exactly what the restaurant industry is counting on!!  Most restaurants carry at least one terribly fattening, high-calorie salad on their menu.  From Wendy’s to Applebee’s to Chick-fil-A to Burger King, you name it they’ve got an unhealthy salad for you.  Let’s take a look at some of these unhealthy options in disguise:

  • Burger King’s Tender Crisp Garden Salad with Ranch dressing has            45grams of fat with one packet of dressing
  • Chick-fil-A’s Chicken Strip Salad with Ranch dressing has 40 grams of fat with one packet of dressing
  • McDonald’s Premium Bacon Ranch Salad with Crispy Chicken has 35 grams of fat with one packet of dressing
  • Applebee’s Crispy Shrimp Caesar Salad has 78 grams of fat with dressing already mixed in

The lesson to be learned from these high fat salads is that you need to check out the nutrition facts for everything you eat.  Never assume that something is healthy just because it has vegetables!
